Transitional Living Program
S.T.E.P. participant

Located in Chilliwack, British Columbia, the Transitional Living Program (TLP) provides daily support to persons who have a mental illness so they can successfully make the transition from intensive housing supports to successful interdependent community living.

Program Objectives

  • To find affordable, safe and supportive living situations for each client
  • To promote participation in formal training in order to improve social functioning through medication, self-management and confidence in daily living activities, which include financial management and household responsibilities
  • To provide a supportive program structure so participants can explore and strengthen their involvement in various community recreational activities and vocational opportunities  
  • To encourage increasing independence

Potential participants are 19 years or older and are recommended by the Chilliwack Mental Health Centre. Individuals must be able to do basic daily living activities on their own. They must be able to manage their medications and be financially responsible for rent, food, and clothing. Personal involvement in various community recreational, vocational and social activities is a requirement for each participant. Clients are eligible to participate in this program for up to two years.

We proactively involve an individual's family and facilitate supportive relationships as part of a growth and recovery plan.
