Supported Independent Living

The Supported Independent Living (SIL) program provides residential support for people who have a mental illness and are living semi-independently in Abbotsford, British Columbia. While most individuals receive a housing subsidy and day-to-day support, there are others who only receive a housing subsidy.

Working closely with our clients and case managers from Abbotsford Mental Health Centre, we develop and implement care plans that are tailored to the recovery needs of each individual. We strive to empower and equip individuals to become healthy. When a person has the appropriate tools for daily living, life becomes more meaningful and enjoyable.

Care plans address medication management, nutrition, goal setting, home maintenance, anxiety management and coping skills. Integration into the community and healthy social skills are also included in each care plan. By learning and acquiring these skills, people begin to reclaim their lives and begin taking back what mental illness sometimes takes away.

Regular weekly outings take place into the community and other locations in the Lower Mainland area of British Columbia. While having fun together and enjoying one another's company, friendships are established with others who are on a similar road to recovery.

Encouraging Interdependence

A meaningful life includes being with others and opportunities to develop lasting friendships.
