Here are some of the exciting opportunities and incentives offered to our employees: EducationEmployees who work 20 or more permanent hours per week, and casual employees who have worked for a minimum of three years, may apply for professional development assistance. We can help you pay for your tuition! TrainingEach year at Communitas, we work hard to provide work-related training and workshops that we feel you will enjoy. We have had the opportunity to learn from some of the industry's best and believe you'll think so too. Health & WellnessIn an effort to encourage our employees' physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being, Communitas provides its employees with resources on these topics. As part of our team, you have the opportunity to participate in community events like the Vancouver Sun Run and/or the Abbotsford Police Run each year. Health & Wellness periodicals are available regularly, as is the opportunity to participate in our Occupational Health & Safety Committee. Wages and BenefitsCommunitas is pleased to offer its employees competitive wages and benefits. Employees who work 30 or more permanent hours per week are eligible for the Communitas benefits package. This includes extended health, dental, Life/Dependent Life Insurance, Basic Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Long Term Disability. All Communitas employees who work 35 or more permanent hours/week and have completed probation, or those already contributing to the Municipal Pension Plan through another employer will be required to enroll in the Plan. Employees who have completed at least two years of continuous employment, and earned a preset amount during any two consecutive calendar years while working for Communitas, will have the option of enrolling in the Municipal Pension Plan. Please check with the Payroll/Benefits department for more information. Other long-term employee benefits include birthday and employment anniversary days off with pay. Employee Recruitment IncentiveCommunitas encourages its employees to actively help recruit people who would be a good fit for employment with us. Starting September 1, 2008, Communitas will pay employees $50 when they refer someone that is hired and successfully completes their probationary period. Remember, if you refer someone to remind them to put your name on their application! Ask our HR Department for brochures and materials to pass along to those you will be recruiting. Only employees whose names are recorded on the application form at the time of application will be considered for this referral incentive. If two or more employees refer the same applicant, they will split the $50 reward. One successful new employee equals one $50 reward. Relocation OpportunitiesLooking to move to another area? Did you know that Communitas operates programs in the Lower Mainland, North Vancouver Island and in the Okanagan? Wherever you start your employment with Communitas, you have the opportunity to transfer to programs in other locations. Keep your eyes out for positions posted on our job postings page! Career AdvancementDid you know that most of our management at Communitas started out as support staff in residential and other programs? Communitas actively looks for leadership potential within our existing staff teams. If you are willing to develop new skills, receive further education and have a desire to grow within the company, why not consider starting as a Residential Support Worker?
